Abstract

Part Three of the "Turtles, or Crystals" framework. Parts One and Two climbed one arch of a bridge from the crystal side; this paper climbs the other arch, from the living side — what an organism stores and how — toward the same open-ended-evolution wall, organized on two forks (what to store / how to store it). At each rung, biology's answer is set beside the crystal's option and thrown down as a challenge to be broken, each with a kill condition. The keystone, from the biological side, is autopoiesis: the self-producing, far-from-equilibrium machinery neither arch spans alone. The contribution is the bridge and the matched-problem map plus a reciprocity gauntlet — not a crossing of the wall.
